[SG] Categorize & Describe Parcel Content

In order to ensure smooth delivery, you'll need to eliminate prohibited items, quote with an accurate weight and not to forget categorize and describe your parcel content correctly!

Whenever you book for an international delivery, you’ll find a drop-down list of categories for your parcel content declaration as shown below.

Step 1: Select item category that best fits with your parcel content as it will be used for both the customs declaration documents and the customs clearance process.

Step 2: Describe your item type, material and even brand in detail for parcel content column.

For example, if your parcel contains clothing, you should describe it as "Polo T-Shirt" or “H&M men’s sweater”, instead of just “shirt”. Bear in mind that, the description for each parcel content needs to be clear and easily understood as it can help speed up the sorting progress and also delivery to your receivers. Find out more examples below:-

Category: Sport & Leisure | Parcel Content: YONEX Badminton Racket

Category: Bags & Luggages | Parcel Content: Universal Traveler Hard Case Luggage

Category: Jewelry| Parcel Content: Daniel Wellington Classic Bracelet

Take note: there might be additional custom charges for certain countries due to extended processing times for invalid or unclear parcel category and content declared.

Step 3: Fill in the parcel value accurately to ensure smooth delivery process.

Step 4: This is an optional column for making remark to courier for pick up or delivery. (Note: This feature is only available for specific couriers)

Step 5: The HS Code will be filled automatically after you choose the item category. If you know the specific HS code for your parcel content, feel free to amend and use your own HS code insteadAfter done filling in the parcel details, click "Next" to proceed.

What is HS Code?

HS Codes (harmonized commodity description & coding system) were created for international use by the customs department to classify commodities when they are being declared at the custom frontiers by exporters and importers. For eg, the HS code for a book is 4820 20 000. Find out more.
